Each classroom employs a high ratio of staff who provide each student with support and guidance for learning and growing at their own pace. Our multidisciplinary team of teachers, and support staff work together to meet the needs of each student and allow them to reach their full potential.

Juniper Room

The Juniper Room is a caring and inclusive classroom for young Elementary students to learn school readiness skills.  Juniper Room has a supportive staff to student ratio and programming that is adapted to support young students with success in learning.  Students learn communication skills through Core Language learning opportunities embedded throughout their daily routines.  Juniper Room students learn fine motor skills through printing activities, art projects, and playing with toys.  Students learn modified academic concepts, such as early literacy and numeracy skills. Students enjoy developing new friendships through positive play experiences as a learning community. 


Sunshine Room

Sunshine Room is an enriched learning environment for Elementary students.  This active community of learners is ready to progress with their modified academic skills.  The classroom incorporates modified academic concepts from the Alberta Program of Studies K-1, with a focus on math and structured literacy concepts taught through games, active play, and hands-on manipulatives to support each child in achieving personal success.  Students can work on social skill development and emotional regulation skills using the Zones of Regulation and the Spark program. Sunshine Room students develop their motor skills through active learning activities, including community outings, outdoor play, and a modified physical education program.  Sunshine Room students enjoy play-based learning opportunities and a supportive classroom for social skill development. Students learn to form positive relationships with peers in an inclusive and safe environment.

Yellow Room

Yellow Room is comprised of older Elementary students who are ready to build on their foundational skills.  Yellow Room is a learning community focused on modified academic concepts, including structured literacy skills and math skills. Yellow Room is an active classroom with an adapted physical education program and opportunities for outdoor play.  Students develop positive peer relationships and life skills within a supportive classroom community.  Students enhance their social skill development through programs such as We Thinkers. Yellow Room explores science and social studies through engaging hands-on learning activities and art projects.

Rainbow Room

Rainbow Room is a supportive and caring learning environment for High School students with complex sensory and communication needs.  Rainbow Room students learn functional life skills within an inclusive and safe classroom community.  Rainbow Room students learn self-help skills, such as hygiene, toileting, and self-feeding to promote independence and quality of life. Rainbow Room students learn to communicate their needs with an emphasis on Core Language learning using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including Touch Chat, Core Boards, and picture communication symbols.  Communication skills are modelled by staff using AAC and implemented throughout daily routines.  Rainbow Room students enjoy fun and engaging sensory activities, songs, and movement breaks for self-regulation.  Community walks and an adapted physical education program support students with a healthy lifestyle and enhanced gross motor skills.

Peach Room

The Peach Room follows a therapy intensive, play-based preschool program which includes support from the occupational therapist, and speech therapist through one-on-one intervention, small groups, and classroom programming. The development of a formal communication system is an integral part of classroom programming, with the incorporation of augmentative speech devices, aided language displays, visual supports, repetitive songs, and more. There is also a focus on self-help skills like eating, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene, and general safety. Preschool academics like social/emotional regulation, fine and gross motor skills, and communication skills are covered during the daily routine with emphasis on social skills like sharing, problem solving, eye contact, and respecting personal space.

Safari Room

Safari Room is an Elementary classroom that supports students with complex self-regulation challenges.  These students enjoy active classroom routines with frequent opportunities for movement breaks, sensory play, and outdoor activity for enhanced self-regulation skills. Safari Room students learn self-help skills and life skills to promote greater independence in daily routines. Safari Room is a class for students to focus on elements of social and emotional learning such as turn-taking, making positive choices, and building strong relationships within the school community. Play-based learning is used to introduce numerous academic and social/emotional concepts, and engage all students in a classroom atmosphere. Safari Room students are developing their communication skills with the support of Core Language learning.  Communication is enhanced by Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including Touch Chat, Core Boards, and picture communication symbols.  Communication skills are modelled by staff using AAC and implemented throughout daily routines.  Students make choices, request preferred items, and communicate to express their basic needs, feelings, and ideas.   Safar

Aspen Room

Aspen Room is an inclusive community of learners who experience school as a fun and engaging place to learn.  Our ratio of staff to students provides each child with the support and guidance they need for learning.  Our students adjust to school through programming that is modified and adapted to their unique needs.  We build on each student’s strengths to create a personalized approach to learning. Our students experience a positive environment where they can build friendships and feel accepted by peers.  Through these positive play experiences students are guided through social problem-solving, conflict resolution, turn-taking, sharing, and transitioning to different activities.  Play-based learning also extends to modified academic learning, including math and literacy concepts.  Students learn math and literacy concepts through games, hands-on manipulatives, and targeted small-group learning.  


Sage Room

The Sage Room is a positive and engaging learning environment for Elementary to Junior High students.  Sage Room students participate in group learning activities to work on social skills, by making positive choices and developing positive peer relationships.  Students participate in meaningful opportunities to learn kindness and cooperation within an inclusive peer environment.  Students work on modified academic concepts based on the Alberta program of studies from grades 1-3.  The primary focus is structured literacy and math skills.  Student learning is supported through a combination of small-group learning and whole class learning.  To provide additional differentiation, students are grouped by their learning level and skills to work on modified learning goals.   

Horizon Room

The Horizon Room is a junior high classroom, which focuses on social skill development, modified academic skills, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and communication skill development.  Horizon Room students work on modified academic concepts based on the Alberta program of studies from grades 1-3.  The primary focus is literacy and numeracy skills.  Student learning is supported through a combination of small group learning and whole class learning. Dedicated to meeting individual needs, our teaching approach employs differentiated strategies aligned with students' strengths and abilities, as well as their unique Individual Program Plans.

Chinook Room

The Chinook Room a is safe and caring classroom environment for students with complex sensory and communication needs.  Students learn functional life skills, communication skills, and self-regulation skills, in a supportive classroom environment. In Chinook Room, our focus is to create an inclusive community of learners who experience school as a fun and engaging place to learn.  Our students experience success in school, through programming that is modified and adapted to their unique needs.  Chinook Room programming is based on basic skill development across the domains of social skills, self-regulation, executive functioning, gross motor skills, fine motor skills and communication skills.  To support communication, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), has been embraced and integrated it into the classroom.  Communication is supported with core language boards, touch chat, and picture communication symbols.   Our students have a wide range of skills, each with their own unique challenges and strengths.  We build on each student’s strengths to create a personalized approach to learning.
